Helping women navigate grief so they can reconnect with purpose, meaning and the people who matter most.

About Monica Polanco, LCSW

Remember the love more than the pain.

I’m a bilingual, first-generation Latina and New York-based grief therapist who helps women go from surviving to thriving.

  • Life will never be the same, but it can still be meaningful.

  • Therapy can help you integrate what you’ve learned from your loved one and add depth and vitality to your life.

All of your feelings are welcome in therapy, even the anger you may feel toward your loved one for leaving you or the relief you may feel if they had a long illness.

Let’s treat your emotions with compassion and tenderness.

You're here because you’re ready to feel whole again.

You were born to heal.

I’ll help you accept yourself exactly as you are — the first step toward change.

In therapy, you’ll honor your loved one’s legacy and carry your love for them, forever.

How I work:

I use a whole person, whole body approach.

We will take things one step at a time, so that you can find your footing, on your terms.

We might try guided visualizations, breathwork and always, compassionate listening.

I will highlight your strengths and help you build resilience.

Therapy with me is…

  • You don’t have to hide your pain. Come as you are.

I’ll walk beside you, guiding you to healing stepping stones along the way.

  • I’ll create a treatment plan that considers your skills, goals and readiness for change.

I’ll help you build awareness and self-compassion.

  • I’ll ask questions that inspire breakthroughs when you need them most.

I’ll suggest activities outside of therapy that help you feel more energized, accomplished and proud of yourself.
